Another feather in Adharshila's cap... they're coming really fast these days!

The students and teachers of Adharshila School celebrated Republic Day on January 26th 2009 as the first Sports Day of the School. The day began with the children (in brand new school dresses) arriving at the school bright and early in the morning. They then put up a roadshow ('prabhaat pheri')  through the neighbouring villages, marching to the beat of drums.

This was followed by flag hoisting at the Adharshila campus, followed by a parade and salute to the national flag by 3 marching contingents of our students. After this, the older students put up an impressive display of synchrnized drills with dumb bells and batons.

This was followed by intra-school sports competitions for junior and senior students. For the first time, the winning teams received medals and certificates of merit, which they now display proudly in their homes.

The Sports Day ended with an all-village Volleyball Open contest, hosted by Adharshila School and contested avidly by teams from many nearby villages. The team from Village Paira won the Volleyball shield.

This event has strengthened further in the local area the reputation of Adharshila as an institution of excellence that sets performance standards way above those prevailing in other schools in the region. The next event that our students are looking forward to is an Inter-school sports competition being hosted by the district Department of Education at Sheopur. I am sure that if invited, our students will perform excellently at this event and win many more laurels for themselves, their families and their villages.

Do leave your comments and thoughts on this post, so that we can share them with the students and teachers at Adharshila.

Best,
Asmita.
